The School shall
employ an individual who shall be the Associate
Librarian.. His/her term of appointment and salary shall be determined
by the school administration as outlined in the salary scale and working
conditions determined by the School Board.The Associate Librarian is employed to assist the Director of Library
Services, teaching staff, students, andvisitors,
and to maintain the library and public area as a welcome and efficient
reception area, as well as to maintain a supportive and collegial atmosphere
with all other AIS faculty and staff.
JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide
administrative and clerical support to the Librarian and school staff and
students within the School’s mission and philosophy.
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate
degree or equivalent experience Fluency
in English, Hebrew preferabl Appropriate
experience and knowledge of AV equipment use and maintenance Familiarity
with AV software Good organizational skills Advanced computer

REPORTS
TO: Director of Library Services:
S/he shall be
responsible to the Director of Library Services and act under his/her
direction.The Associate Librarian may
delegate authority and responsibility to others at his/her discretion, but in every
instance, he/she is responsible for the responsibilities listed below
HOURS:
Daily from 7:30-15:30 Monday through Thursday, Friday 7:30 to 15:15.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The
Associate Librarian will
Periodicals ØBudget control and ordering
of all periodicals and journals. ØCheck in and update records
regarding periodicals received. ØDistribution of professional
journals to appropriates staff or departments. ØOrganization of periodical
collection.
Audio-Visual. ØOrganization and maintenance
of AV hardware and software ØCatalogue all AV software
(CD’s videos, DVDs, books on tape) ØInventory control of all AV
software and hardware. ØSchedule use of equipment. ØTraining and support of
teaching staff and students in the use of equipment. ØSimple repair of AV/computer
and printer hardware Ø[By special arrangement with
the administration, filming of school events at a pre-determined rate of compensation]
Computer
Resources and Equipmen ØAssist students and staff
with computer use, trouble-shooting simple problems ØDevelop and maintain Library
Web Pages ØAssist Librarian and
teachers in evaluating on-line resources, data bases, and internet sites as additions to library electronic resources ØServe as a member of the
school’s Tech Committee and Tech Team ØCirculation and inventory
control of teacher laptops, AlphaSmarts, classroom photography/filmproduction
equipment
General ØHelp K-12 students with
research, working with ESL and new students who need extra assistance and
assist teachers in whatever way possible. ØAssist with development of
budget concerning periodicals, audio-visual equipment and AV materials ØWork with library
volunteers. ØGeneral check in/out of
books and other library materials as necessary. ØAll
other duties as required by the Director of Library Services which are
consistent with this position.
WORKING
CONDITIONS: In accordance with individual contract as agreed
upon with administration.
COMPENSATION:
Annual salary according to the “Classified Staff
Salary Scale,” revised August, 2005.
