The School shall employ an individual who shall be the Librarian. His/her term of appointment and salary shall be determined by the school administration as outlined in the salary scale and working conditions determined by the School Board. The Librarian is employed to work in cooperation with the Director of Library Services, teaching staff, students, and visitors, and to maintain the library and public area as a welcome and efficient reception area, as well as to maintain a supportive and collegial atmosphere with all other AIS faculty and staff.
JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide administrative and clerical support to the Director of Library Services and school staff and students within the School’s mission and philosophy
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate degree or equivalent experience Fluency in English, Hebrew preferable Appropriate experience and knowledge of AV equipment use and maintenance Successful teaching experience Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, teachers, staff and parents Familiarity with AV software Good organizational skills Advanced computer skills
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
S/he shall work with coordination with the Director of Library Services. The Librarian may delegate authority and responsibility to others at his/her discretion, but in every instance, he/she is responsible for the responsibilities listed below:
HOURS: Daily from 7:30-15:30 Monday through Thursday, Friday 7:30 to 15:15
RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee library Online, AV, and Periodicals services Budget AV, Tech, Periodicals, and Online collections library accounts Teach research and library skills to students and staff, including use of computer-based resources. In cooperation with teachers and curriculum coordinator integrate information literacy skills into curriculum Serve as a member of the school’s Tech Committee and Tech Team
Teaching Information Literacy and integration info literacy skills into curriculum Ø Promote information literacy skills to students, teachers, and parents. Ø Plan integration info literacy skills into curriculum units Ø Develop a skills continuum Ø Provide regular staff training in basic and advanced information search and evaluation skills
Online collections and the Internet Ø Organize and maintain online subscriptions Ø Initiate teachers’ training sessions, assist teachers in evaluating on-line resources Ø Promote the use of the collections Ø Develop and maintain Library Web Page to promote library and library programs
Periodicals Ø Oversee Library Aide’s operations with magazine and journal subscriptions Ø Budget control and ordering periodical collection.
Audio-Visual Ø Order, catalog and keep inventory control of AV software
Textbook Collection Ø Organize and maintain textbook collection
General Ø Assist with development of budget concerning periodicals, audio-visual equipment and AV materials Ø Work with library volunteers. Ø All other duties as required by the Superintendent which are consistent with this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS: In accordance with individual contract as agreed upon with administration.
COMPENSATION: In accordance with the current Official Teacher’s Agreement, and the AIS Policies and Procedures for Teachers (K-8; 9-12; K-12), published annually in the Faculty Handbook
